It’s time for fun — and safety — in the sun
Temperatures are rising, which means it’s the season for fun in the sun and swimming! If kids will be around water, make sure you assign a few adults who know how to swim and perform CPR in case of an emergency as water watchers. Water watchers should always:
- Put away distractions, such as electronic devices and books. If you’re working from home or doing any outdoor chores, you can’t be a water watcher.
- Actively watch those in their care, being sure to scan the area and keep count of everyone in the group, not just children.
- Know the street address of the pool’s location.
- Scan the bottom of the pool before leaving and lock the pool gate.

Energy-saving tips to help cool down your bill
Here are some simple no-cost/low-cost tips to help you save energy and money throughout the summer:
- Clean the lint trap before every dryer load.
- Wash dishes all at once instead of several times during the day.
- Replace the bulbs in your five most frequently used light fixtures with LEDs.
- Turn off the ceiling fan when no one is in the room. Ceiling fans cool people, not rooms.
- As temperatures rise, close curtains and blinds during the day to keep out the sunlight and heat.

DID YOU KNOW: SRP Healthy Forest Initiative™
The Valley’s water comes from rainfall and snowmelt across 8.3 million acres of forest in northern and eastern Arizona. These face threats from wildfires, but we’ve teamed up with state, local and federal agencies, businesses and customers to support strategic thinning — the removal of small trees and thick brush — in overgrown forests. To date, the SRP Healthy Forest Initiative has raised over $1 million in combined customer donations and SRP matching funds to allow for healthier trees to thrive and protect our water supply. Sign up for a monthly or one-time donation by calling (602) 236-0220, emailing [email protected] or visiting srp.net/healthyforest.
